Team History

Episode 00: Prologue

/akg/ was formed on the evening of May 1, 2020. In preparation for the upcoming /vg/ League 14, much debate was had over the team logo and composition. Eventually 23 operators were selected, and /akg/ was ready to make their /vg/ League debut.

Episode 01: /vg/ League 14

Group I Match 1 vs. /pmmm/
With much anticipation and hype built up over the preceding month, /akg/ took the field in their official debut against the lesbians of /pmmm/. Unfortunately, /pmmm/ got off to a fast start as /akg/'s offense was left anemic, with /pmmm/ scoring twice near the end of the first half. However, the efforts of ZERO SANITY and Donkey were able to pull /akg/ back to a 2-2 tie. This was the peak of the match, however, as /pmmm/ broke /akg/'s defense with three goals in seven minutes. /akg/'s first ever match concluded 2-5.
Group I Match 2 vs. /gfg/

Group I Match 3 vs. /drg/
After two poor performances, /akg/ was already knocked out of the tournament, so the final match against /drg/ was a matter of pride. The offense (except Donkey) started off better than the previous two matches, actually being able to form strings of passes. However, /drg/ was able to take a defensive error by 8*7500 = 1 Million LMD and turn it into a goal. This goal was quickly canceled out by ZERO SANITY scoring a precise shot, taking advantage of /drg/'s own defensive error. Screams of AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA filled the stands. A slow first half was coming to a close when the unimaginable happened. BLOCK CERO, already debuffed by an enemy Agent, activated her skill. She kicked the ball directly into 8*7500 = 1 Million LMD's bag, and it ricocheted into the net. At the start of the second half, Donkey missed another opportunity. Following this, /drg/ scored again, bringing the score to 1-3. Switching tactics, /akg/ opted for a more attacking style of play. This resulted in an eventual goal, with GAOOO finding WA CHING WA CHING to halve /drg/'s lead. After another couple of mistakes by Donkey, /drg/ was able to score on a counter. With the game in stoppage time and the score 2-4, /akg/ decided to go for Risk 26 and threw five operators forward. After a save off a kickoff shot by ZERO SANITY, it looked like these tactics were for naught. However, a key tackle by No Thoughts Head Empty followed by an incisive pass from WA CHING WA CHING resulted in another ZERO SANITY goal. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAs filled the stands for one last time in this tournament, and the match concluded 3-4.
VGL 14 Epilogue
Despite a valiant performance against /drg/, other results on the final matchdays went against /akg/, and /akg/ finished with the wooden spoon as the team in the tournament with the least amount of points. However all was not for naught. BLOCK CERO's tactical own goal was able to give /akg/ an award for Spaghetti Moment of the Tournament, and the team's overall aesthetics on their debut won Aesthetics of the Tournament. With more time, hype, and experience on their side, /akg/ now looks forward to /vg/ League 15, hoping that a new tournament will bring better fortune.

Episode 02: /vg/ League 15

Friendlies
Following the poor fortunes at /vg/ League 14, /akg/ arrived into the new divegrass season with a renewed sense of vigor. To welcome the new competition to take place friendlies were scheduled against fellow zero sanity merchants /domg/ and /akg/'s coomer cousins /alg/. The friendly against /domg/ started as with VGL14, with /domg/ jumping out to a 3-1 first half lead. The sounds of women being trampled by elephants was deafening. However 3 successive goals in ten minutes, led by WA CHING WA CHING and capped off with substitute Sad Fat Rich Cat, allowed /akg/ to claim their first victory, if unofficial. The match closed with a chorus of AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. The friendly against /alg/ was less eventful despite the purported rivalry. Little happened in either half of regulation, save for a clutch BLOCK CERO save on a breakaway EH?SEX? in the dying minutes of the second half. The lone goal came in the opening minutes of extra time. A quick series of passes between ZERO SANITY, KO KO DA YO~, LA GOBLINA, and Donkey resulted in the ball being placed at the feet of an open WA CHING WA CHING, who placed the ball into the corner. /akg/ concluded their friendlies with a perfect record.
Prologue
Multiple months had passed since the last /vg/ League, and as such new operators needed to be deployed while old ones needed to rest in the dorms. The final results of the squad building gave new team slots to Pixiv ID 79284449, ONIgiri!, Horse Pussy, Poca, Be Racist, Operation Barrenwomb, and Red Katana Bro. Stalwart defender I Never Asked For This, as well as What's His Name Again?, Retardbro..., Stop Sending Clue 7, 8*7500 = 1 Million LMD, >african doctors, and Loginknights were allowed to rest up in the dormitories. LappGOD was promoted to a Silver Medal while Hantingu Hajimeru, Jessicat, Chenfromarknights, and Skadoo changed skills to better reflect their positions within /akg/. The team was now prepared for the challenges of /vg/ League 15 and awaited the coming draw.
Group I Match 1 vs. /llsifg/
/akg/ would start /vg/ league 15 much like /vg/ league 14 against a largely pink girl team. Also much like VGL14, they saw themselves get quickly put into a 0-2 hole. However, after a formation change, Horse Pussy was able to take a long shot from outside the box to put /akg/ on the board. A second half goal by WA CHING WA CHING leveled the game, before a third /llsifg/ put /akg/ back into a deficit. An 82nd minute goal from Donkey, coupled with a clutch BLOCK CERO save, salvaged a 3-3 draw for /akg/ and gave them their first point in their history.
Group I Match 2 vs. /fgog/
After a barnburner of an opening, perhaps the following match should've been expected. /akg/ and /fgog/ both entered the stadium coming off of high scoring games but neither would leave with even a shot on target and only 3 shots in total. Both teams combining for 0 on target shots was that stat's first occurrence in the /vg/ league, but the 0-0 draw gave /akg/ their second point of the cup and set them up for an important final group stage match against /r6g/.
Group I Match 3 vs. /r6g/
Coming off the news of the collab between Arknights and Rainbow Six Siege, it must have been fate that led these two teams together. Entering the stadium, a debut of the Rhodes Island Mobile Base, under the sound of Ursus /akg/ was ready to permanently change the perception of their team. A quick start saw Hantingu Hajimeru score off an assist from Donkey before quickly being followed up by a WA CHING WA CHING goal, assisted by standout midfielder Horse Pussy. The 2-0 lead /akg/ took into halftime was their first ever lead. Another quick start in the second half saw ZERO SANITY score off a breakaway, once again assisted by Horse Pussy. This would prove to be the winning goal. /r6g/ attempted to come back after a formation change but fell short, and /akg/ took home their first official win 3-2. With other results in the group going their way /akg/ topped the group and entered the round of 16 for the first time in their history, just one cup after spooning.
Round of 16 vs. /drag/
/akg/ would be drawn against /drag/, one of the teams who were able to 9 point their group. /akg/ immediately found themselves in a familiar position as /drag/ got off to a hot start and dominated the first 30 minutes of the game, going up 2-0. After halftime adjustments /akg/ were able to get a goal back through a Donkey finish. /akg/ continued to put the pressure on throughout the half but weren't able to find the needed equalizer until stoppage time, when WA CHING WA CHING once again come through for /akg/ and sent the game to extras. ZERO SANITY was able to give /akg/ their third goal in the second half of extra time, and after some bus parking /akg/ advanced to final day with a 3-2 win.
Quarterfinals vs. /dng/
The Yugibro Bowl. Once again /akg/ found themselves immediately pinned back into a one goal deficit. Almost immediately afterwards, however, Donkey was about to mind control Mystic Mind into committing an own goal. A solo effort from WA CHING WA CHING brought /akg/ into a 2-1 lead before halftime. After a pep talk from Yugibro, /akg/ would hold that score for the remainder of the game, moving onto the semifinals.
Semifinals vs. /ssbg/
In a match against the defending champions, /akg/ would find themselves pinned back for most of the game. A good defensive effort saw /ssbg/ get few quality chances, however for most of the game one was enough as they carried a 1-0 lead for 50 minutes. /akg/ would wait until the last opportunity to go on the offensive and Donkey would lead the final push to get the needed equalizer in the 88th minute and once again send /akg/ to extra time. The game would remain at 1-1 and go on to penalties. /akg/ would score 4 while /ssbg/ only got 2, and a Hantingu Hajimeru fourth penalty sent /akg/ to the finals.
Finals vs. /xcg/
Just one cup after spooning, /akg/ would find themselves matched up against a historic and experienced final opponent in /xcg/. Donkey would once again use mind control to force That's XCOM Baby! into an own goal at the end of the first half, giving /akg/ a 1-0 lead. /xcg/ would tie up the game soon after the second half started, but a long pass from LappGOD that found WA CHING WA CHING would once again put /akg/ into the lead 2-1. However, /xcg/ was able to once again tie the game up ten minutes later and then finally took the lead themselves despite the best efforts from BLOCK CERO. The 3-2 scoreline would be all she wrote and /akg/ finished their second cup in 2nd place.
VGL 15 Epilogue
Finishing in 2nd just one cup after spooning was a massive improvement for /akg/, as was reflected in /akg/'s winning of both Surprise of the Tournament and Most Improved. They were also able to once again win the Best Overall Aesthetics award. While spirits were high after the 2nd place run, there were rumors that /akg/ were now cursed. /xcg/ previously had appeared in two straight cup finals only to lose them both and required years of effort to get back to a third and finally win. With /xcg/ dying after this final victory there were some worries that /akg/ had now inherited this fate.

Episode 03: /vg/ League 16

Friendlies
After /vg/ league 15 concluded, /akg/ would enter their first MobaBowl. A 1-0 win against /revue/ would be followed by a 3-1 win over /llsifg/, which saw ZERO SANITY score a hat trick, and a 1-0 win over /tnm/, sending /akg/ to the winner's finals. Unfortunately, it would seem /akg/'s finals luck would carry over into invitationals. A 3-3 game against /gbfg/ led to penalties which /akg/ would lose 3-4. A rematch against /llsifg/ would follow in the loser's finals, and once again /akg/ was taken to penalties after a 0-0 game, once again losing 2-4. A third place finish is nothing to scoff at but three successive finals losses left /akg/ wanting more. /akg/ would schedule two friendlies following this invitational. The first was a rematch of the Collab Bowl against /r6g/ before their friendly general died, this time concluding with a 3-1 /akg/ win. The second was a rematch of the first Chink Bowl against /gfg/, with /akg/ getting unofficial revenge in a 3-2 win. /akg/ once again concluded their friendlies with a 2-0 record. A brief chink partnership with /ccpg/ in the /vg/ league Randomized Tag Team Cup would conclude the offseason.
Prologue
/akg/ once again rebuilt their squad prior to the upcoming /vg/ league. Jetpackbro, Poca, GAOOO, and Jessicat would be sent to rest in the dorms while La Cucaracha, C E O B E, Suzuran is our Light!, and You seethe. You project. were added to be deployed. Hantingu Hajimeru would have her skill once again changed, this time to doko, but would lose her status as a medal to Skadoo. /akg/ was now set to build off their 2nd place finish going into /vg/ League 16.
Group C Match 1 vs. /hanny/
/akg/ would open the tournament facing off against /hanny/. WA CHING WA CHING would continue his role as /akg/'s frontman and score a quick brace in the first half to give /akg/ a 2-0 lead. While /hanny/ was able to get one back before halftime, ZERO SANITY would score a third in the second half to put the game away. This 3-1 win would temporarily be /akg/'s biggest win in their history.
Group C Match 2 vs. /ink/
Facing an /ink/ that just came off a smashing of /@/, /akg/ needed to be prepared to face this explosive offense. And they came more than prepared. A largely defensive game with a few missed chances from /akg/ saw the game tied 0-0 late. While /akg/ seemed en route to another 0-0 second game, a 90th minute goal from WA CHING WA CHING finally put /akg/ on the scoreboard and gave them the win 1-0, putting /akg/ at the top of the group.
Group C Match 3 vs. /@/
With results going their way earlier in the day, all /akg/ had to do to keep their spot at the top of the group was not lose by 3. /@/ immediately put the pressure on this improbably result, scoring two quick goals in succession in the first half. A Be Racist yellow would conclude the first half with /akg/ going into the break down 0-2. ZERO SANITY was able to score off the jump to bring /akg/ back to 1-2, but Be Racist would get a second yellow 10 minutes later, limiting /akg/ to only ten operators the rest of the way. WA CHING WA CHING scored in his third straight game to tie the game up but the ten operator limit would prove too much for /akg/ as they succumbed to a late /@/ goal, losing 2-3. However, a 1 goal loss is not a 3 goal loss and /akg/ were still able to top the group and entered the round of 16 yet again.
Round of 16 vs. /egg/
/akg/ would be again matched up with a 9 point team, this time against first overall seed /egg/ whose lead man, CLANG, was just coming off a 9.0 performance. WA CHING WA CHING scored the only goal in the first half and /akg/ would take the 1-0 lead into halftime. A completely new formation would be constructed at halftime but would not be deployed until later. /egg/ was eventually able to even the game at 1 and the new gameplan was set into motion. A faster /akg/ offense would result in ZERO SANITY putting them up 2-1 but CLANG finally showed up 12 minutes later to tie it at 2-2. Donkey was able to almost immediately respond but yet again CLANG tied it late and sent the game into extra time tied 3-3. Chances in extra time were sparse and with both teams' goalkeepers on top of their game penalties were inevitable. /egg/'s Eggman was able to get two saves, but BLOCK CERO turned into BLOCK CUATRO and blocked every penalty that /egg/ took. Two made shots from ZERO SANITY and Skadoo were enough to send /akg/ to final day a second straight cup. For their effort, this loss by /egg/ would break their curse of only being able to make it out of groups and make the quarterfinals in even numbered /vg/ leagues while being stuck out of survival and knockouts in odd numbered /vg/ leagues.
Quarterfinals vs. /fgog/
/akg/ would face /fgog/ in the quarterfinals, the first time /akg/ had an official rematch. This game would turn out much more exciting than the previous. /fgog/ took an early lead before ZERO SANITY quickly evened the game at 1. /fgog/ would take another lead right after halftime and it would take until the 85th minute for /akg/ to go on a last minute attack and Donkey was able to score off of a header combo between herself and LappGOD. Off of the extra time kickoff, Skadoo was able to drive down the right side of the pitch and cross it in to a centered up LappGOD. An initial shot was saved by BANE?! but the ball was left open for LappGOD to tap it in with her head. /akg/ was able to hold /fgog/ off with better stamina and concluded the game 3-2. Once again /akg/ would finish top four.
Semifinals vs. /gbpen/
/akg/ would now have a growing rivalry against all types of idol generals. Compared to their previous games this semifinal against /gbpen/ would prove much slower paced. After improprieties resulted in punishment for /gbpen/, they were still able to win their quarterfinal matchup. But now /akg/ was set out to take revenge for their Yostarbros /mjg/. A lone 64th minute goal from WA CHING WA CHING was all /akg/ needed to advance to their second straight final, winning 1-0.
Finals vs. /hgg2d/
Do you believe in curses? /egg/ certainly did until theirs was finally broken. And following this game, /akg/ certainly did as well. /akg/'s defense would fail to hold back /hgg2d/ all game. Failed clearances and errant passing would repeatedly put /akg/ into holes they eventually weren't able to recover from. Skadoo was able to respond to an initial /hgg2d/ goal but /akg/ would be down 1-2 at halftime. More missteps would see /hgg2d/ score twice more before Skadoo made it a brace. Down 2-4 late /akg/ needed to send everyone forward to try to get a win, but would only allow one more /hgg2d/ goal. /akg/'s second final in a row would result in a second loss in a row, this time 2-5.
VGL 16 Epilogue
/akg/ was able to win one more award this cup, with Burn Me to the Ground being selected as Best Anthem. /akg/ contributed to a second award, however it was one of their failed clearances leading to /hgg2d/'s goal of the tournament. While this second finals loss hurt /akg/ more than most teams feel in their lifespan, there was one glimmer of hope. /xcg/'s curse resulted in two straight finals losses, but it also meant that the cursed team's third final would be a win. If /akg/ could just make it back again they would surely finally get that win.

Episode 04: /vg/ League 17

Friendlies
Friendlies are entirely unofficial, but sometimes they could be seen as omens for a team's official games. /akg/ would match up against a chink team in friendlies for the third time in a row, this time against /mjg/. However this game would result in only a 0-2 loss. /akg/'s second friendly came against their buddies at /aceg/, and while ZERO SANITY was able to score once the game still finished in a 1-3 loss. For the first time /akg/'s friendly season ended in a 0-2 record.
Prologue
As usual, /akg/'s squad saw a shuffling before the start of /vg/ League 17. This time however there was a very large change in operators. KO KO DA YO~, LA GOBLINA, APPURU PAI, Red Katana Bro, Pixiv ID 79284449, ONIgiri!, and Be Racist were placed in the dorms while This ___ Belongs to Ursus, Zoomer Maria, Nice cock bro, Los Montis, Coomcat, Auto Deploy Has Made a Mistake, and Archetto MANIA! were sent out into the field. Donkey was demoted back to a silver for the first time since VGL14 with WA CHING WA CHING taking her place as gold. Skadoo was also made a nonmedal again as C E O B E took her place as silver. /akg/ hoped this newer lineup would be enough to get that finals win.
Group F Match 1 vs. /twg/
/akg/'s hopes were immediately dashed. WA CHING WA CHING started quickly and scored twice, sandwiching a /twg/ goal, to put /akg/ up 2-1. Even before WA CHING WA CHING's second goal, and especially after, it was evident to all that /akg/'s strikers were not feeling it that day. Breakaways were left unshot, open shots were missed wide, and every other shot was stopped by an in-form /twg/ goalkeeper. While /akg/ had the stats to suggest a good performance, a 2-2 halftime would lead into a 2-4 loss and /twg/ took three points. It was /akg/'s first opening loss since VGL14.
Group F Match 2 vs. /vrg/
Stuck with zero points after game 1, /akg/ needed a win against /vrg/ to stay alive. Luckily this time /akg/'s offense was on their game. A slick pass from LappGOD found Donkey for an opening goal before she was able to make it a brace, taking a 2-0 lead into halftime. A more defensive formation failed in its goal and resulted in /vrg/ taking back one goal, but a switch to the original formation was able to get C E O B E open for a third goal. ZERO SANITY made it four before one last /vrg/ goal ended the game at 4-2. /akg/ still needed results but they had dug themselves out of their hole.
Group F Match 3 vs. /indie/
Unlike in their previous two groups, /akg/ did not get any help from their groupmates and required a win against /indie/ to advance out of the group. WA CHING WA CHING and Donkey were able to trade goals with /indie/ to make it 2-2 after 30 minutes. This was at good as it got for /akg/ unfortunately. /indie/'s offense was the opposite of /akg/'s first game performance and scored all but one shot they took, with that one missed shot just resulting in a corner that was scored, while /akg/'s offense stalled after the second goal. The game would end 7-2. YOU HAVE ANGERED THE GODS received the /vg/ league's third ever 9.0, /akg/ suffered a new biggest loss, and /akg/ was eliminated in the group stage for the first time since VGL14.
VGL 17 Epilogue
/akg/ did not receive any awards for their poor performance but were once again on the receiving end of another team's awards. /indie/ received the biggest upset and the goal of the tournament, both of which were achieved against /akg/. Blame started to be thrown around /akg/. Was the loss of a sacked player what caused this? Was it one of the new players? Should BLOCK CERO be replaced? This cup would unfortunately start a brief terrible period for /akg/.

Episode 05: /vg/ League 18

Friendlies
/akg/'s second MobaBowl would not be as good as their first. Once again opening with /revue/, this time /akg/ was on the receiving end of a shutout, losing 0-2, with /akg/'s best chance coming from a C E O B E post shot. A top tier game against /dbg/ would follow. /akg/ would score two goals in the first half from ZERO SANITY and Donkey, both assisted by These Dragon Balls Belong to Ursus, before /dbg/ would score two of their own goals in the second half. The game would head to penalties where Hey! It's me! Goku's miss would give /akg/ the win. /akg/ followed this up with a matchup against /fgoalter/. WA CHING WA CHING was able to open the scoring but the offense wasn't able to take advantage of a greater amount of shots, with C E O B E hitting the post once again, and the game went to penalties after a 1-1 draw. /akg/'s penalty takers were not able to convert a single penalty and /akg/ was out of the tournament. In place of the usual friendlies, MobaBowl in this offseason was followed up by the Lil' Winter Skirmish. This would not matter for /akg/ as they still only played two games anyways. In their opening match against /feg/, /akg/ once again failed to convert a greater number of shots. A ZERO SANITY goal made the game 1-1 but /akg/ would lose in extra time 1-2. /akg/'s second game saw a matchup with debutants /psg/. ZERO SANITY once again scored but /akg/ once again lost the game 1-2. While Archetto MANIA! provided the memorable moment of heading the ball out of bounds in /akg/'s half after only receiving a throw-in, this meant /akg/ was out of a tournament early again. Three straight poor showings meant /akg/ was at their lowest point since spooning their debut tournament.
Prologue
A poor performance means a big shakeup. Zoomer Maria, Nice cock bro, Coomcat, Archetto MANIA!, and Chenfromarknights were chosen to rest away their fatigue. In their place entered WageGOD, ALL x2, Cap'n Speccy, hehe pinus, and Pillar Correction. Horse Pussy would also be renamed and remodeled into Platato and would be ready to rape. The medals saw a big chance. Donkey once again took her spot as the second gold medal back. WA CHING WA CHING barely stayed on as a silver medal while doko and Operation Barrenwomb would join him, replacing LappGOD and C E O B E. And, for the third roster in a row, HellaCHAD stayed on the team as the last player voted on. A new roster always brings a new hope and /akg/ was ready to make entrance into /vg/ League 18.
Group B Match 1 vs. /きらら/
Spurred on by the sounds of the Golden Age returning, /akg/ had about as good of a start to a tournament as you can get. After a bit of a slow start, all of a sudden ZERO SANITY just burst out into a double brace. 3 open play goals and a free kick would put /akg/ up 4-0. /akg/ was not done scoring yet. Donkey took advantage of a failed clearance to volley in a fifth and C E O B E added a long shot in stoppage time to make it 6-0 at half time. This would tie a record for the most goals scored in a single half. /akg/ kept a little pressure on in the second half but would not score a seventh, and a late /きらら/ goal from Taichou finished the game at 6-1, /akg/'s new biggest win. Perhaps the Golden Age really would return again.
Group B Match 2 vs. /aceg/
No team can keep up a six goal a game average, but /akg/ needed a ton of struggle to get off what they needed in their second match against /aceg/. /aceg/'s Trigger took advantage of a midfield turnover to put /aceg/ up 1-0 at the half. It took 45 minutes before Donkey was able to find enough space to get an equalizer to make it 1-1. Donkey then grabbed the winner in the 83rd minute off a long curling shot, and the game finished 2-1, though not before a heroic effort from BLOCK CERO was required to snuff out a potential Belka breakaway. Due to this game and the other results in the group /akg/ was confirmed to advance to survival. Just one cup after a group stage exit, /akg/ for the first time had advanced from their group in the second week.
Group B Match 3 vs. /alg/
/akg/'s final group stage match was against /alg/. The second official Chink Bowl and the first official Yostar Bowl. Throughout Qualifiers and their first two group games /alg/ managed to double their number of official wins, while /akg/ still needed at least a draw against this new look /alg/ to top their group. The scoring at Essex Island would open with doko intercepting a poor header into a breakaway, double doinking the ball off of both posts and giving /akg/ a 1-0 lead. ZERO SANITY would add to this lead with a free kick before scoring off a hehe pinus assist in stoppage time to make it 3-0 at the half. While /akg/ continued to lay on the pressure and finished the match with 15 shots, /alg/'s goalkeeper HONEYYYYYY made sure the game finished at the same score as halftime. /akg/'s 3 goal win meant /akg/ topped their group with +9 GD and 9 pointed for the first time. For their effort, /alg/ advanced for the first time in their history in second place.
Round of 16 vs. /@/
/akg/'s dominant group stage was rewarded with one of the hardest round of 16 opponents they could've drawn. This would be /akg/'s second match against /@/ after their VGL16 loss, only the second time /akg/ has had a rematch in an official tournament. A back-and-forth first half was finally broken open with /@/'s TakeP scoring in stoppage time. However the lead was immediately evaporated as ZERO SANITY answered with a free kick after Donkey was taken out from behind in the same stoppage time, going into half time tied 1-1. The back-and-forth nature of the game continued into the second half and the 1-1 score would remain throughout the second 45 minutes. Into extra time, /@/'s 72 put them back into the lead in the 97th minute. After the half time break, Donkey would answer the call and get a late equalizer in the 112th minute. All signs were pointing to a penalty shootout. However, late into the extra time's second half, Operation Barrenwomb was killed by an /@/ sliding tackle. The resulting free kick moved the ball past the halfway line, where Operation Barrenwomb was once again killed by an /@/ sliding tackle. She would then loft the ball in towards the box, where WA CHING WA CHING was kicked in the nuts by /@/'s Chubasa right outside the box. In the 120th minute, ZERO SANITY would sink another hat trick, completing his brace and sending /akg/ to the final day for a third time.
Quarterfinals vs. /mmg/
/akg/ once again had a tough matchup. /mmg/ came off of their own dominant group stage to beat the back-to-back champs /hgg2d/ and were ready to take on the back-to-back finalists. The game started where /@/ finished off with /mmg/'s players getting violent with /akg/. /mmg/'s Medical Professionals immediately got a yellow card for punching Suzuran is our Light! in the face. In the 18th minute ZERO SANITY was able to find the space to open the scoring and put /mmg/ up 1-0. /mmg/ changes followed and were eventually able to result in a Javaman shot which was choked, this would prove to be /mmg/'s best chance in the game. With the sounds of Platinum's checkmate ringing in his ears, ZERO SANITY doubled /akg/'s lead in the 45th minute, giving him his third straight brace, and sent /akg/ to halftime up 2-0. /akg/ would dominate for the most of the second half but /mmg/ was still able to apply some pressure and make BLOCK CERO work until Donkey finally sealed the game with a 78th minute strike, with the game ending at 3-0. /akg/ was now back in the top four.
Semifinals vs. /assg/
/akg/'s semifinal opponent would be top four debutant /assg/. Coming out of the same group as /mmg/, they made it out of the survival round before beating a previously dominant /wtg/ in the round of 16 and cup veteran /nepgen/ in the quarterfinals. Though this could've been predicted from /assg/'s previous scorelines, this semifinal would be much more defensive than /akg/'s previous matchups. However, /akg/ would be able to respond in kind. Donkey opened the scoring in the 18th minute and it would take 40 more minutes for ZERO SANITY to double that lead, after a ton of effort from C E O B E to keep the ball in play, and make it 2-0 in the second half. /assg/'s offense would largely be shut down throughout the game and /akg/'s offense did all that was necessary, with the game concluding at the same 2-0. /akg/ had reached their third final. This time they would face /feg/, another team that had yet to even lose a game. In the process, they beat /akg/'s Yostarbros /mjg/ twice, and /akg/ would hope that they would be able to avenge them.
Finals vs. /feg/
If anyone wasn't already a believer in the /xcg/ curse, the ref assignment would make them start believing. Overseeing /akg/'s fated third final was Snaketits, /xcg/'s legacy ref. She made sure the curse's aura was over the entire game. The game start quickly. A foul on ZERO SANITY led to another ZERO SANITY free kick and put /akg/ up 1-0 in the 6th minute. The game would not continue quickly. Back-and-forth efforts from both offenses were repeatedly repelled by both teams' defenses and their goalkeepers, BLOCK CERO and 3-13 Archer. ZERO SANITY came agonizingly close to making it two but his effort his slammed off the crossbar and would eventually go out of play. It took until the 66th minute for Scion of Light to take advantage of a midfield turnover and tie the game back up at 1. Only 9 minutes later WA CHING WA CHING would once again sacrifice his body to get a pass off to Donkey which was able to be finished off, putting /akg/ back into a 2-1 lead, a spot /akg/ had previously been in in VGL15. This lead would not be held. 9 more minutes later /feg/ was able to get a free kick of their own. While the initial shot was blocked, a follow-up effort from Sisterfucker was scored. The 2-2 game would head to extra time. Only a brief amount of time passed before Donkey was killed by /feg/'s Watch Your Back just outside the box. ZERO SANITY once again took and scored the free kick, putting /akg/ back in the lead 3-2 in the 97th minute. With both teams' players dying and the clock ticking down the game started to get messy. A /feg/ midfield turnover resulted in doko feeding ZERO SANITY on a breakaway. The effort was saved, but on the resulting corner doko was fouled by I HATE SUBHUMANS, who could not control his hatred, once again right outside of the box. ZERO SANITY took the long stride up to the ball, set his target, and sunk it in. It was his third free kick goal, a hat trick off of free kicks, and sent /akg/ into a 4-2 lead. A final tackle by HellaCHAD and a final series of passes finally ran out the clock. /akg/ won their third final 4-2. Their curse was lifted. Their logo gained a potential. The Golden Age had finally arrived. And Monster was finally able to play again.
VGL 18 Epilogue
As with all champions /akg/ were given a final boss match to have fun with. They were matched with /vgla/ and lost by a fairly respectable 0-3 with BLOCK CERO showing off one more time. /akg/'s overall performance throughout the tournament meant that they became the first team to win every game in a /vg/ league championship run without any game finishing with a penalty shootout. In addition to the record tied against /きらら/, three more were tied or set by /akg/ over the course of the tournament. /akg/ tied the record for the highest goal difference throughout a tournament with +17, ZERO SANITY set the player and team record for most free kicks scored in a single tournament with 7, and ZERO SANITY became the first player in /vg/ league history to score a hat trick off of free kicks in the final against /feg/. ZERO SANITY would receive both the Golden Ball, for 14 goals scored, and the Best Player, for 6 Man of the Match awards. Donkey also contributed 7 goals of her own, doko led the team with 4 assists with WA CHING WA CHING also contributing 3, and BLOCK CERO became BLOCK QUINCE over the course of the tournament with 15 saves. /akg/ once again appeared on the awards list in a positive way, winning Team of the Tournament for the first time and Best Anthems for the second time. Platato won the tournament's Best Player Model and ZERO SANITY won the Player of the Tournament. Much like /akg/'s spoon gave way to two 2nd place finishes, /akg/'s poor showing in VGL17 and the following offseason only gave way to their best ever showing, and one of the best in /vg/ league history. A second potential was soon added to /akg/'s logo and the general was finally able to revel in victory. /akg/'s choice of anthem turned out to be prescient, the Golden Age had returned again.

Rhodes Island Mobile Base.png Beginning with /vg/ League 15, Rhodes Island has converted the roof of their landship into a divegrass field for /akg/ to use as a home stadium.
Surrounded by the barrenland of Terra and adorned with walls of adboards, Rhodes Island Mobile Base has become a feared fortress for /akg/ to use against any opponent who gets matched against them.
Operators will get moved in and out of dorms, music will change with the season, Amiya will get another class change, but Rhodes Island will always be home.

Yostar Bowl		 All generals under the Yostar publishing umbrella. /mjg/ came first, while they are friendlier than all the other generals listed the memory of Nyaggerbro is still felt today. Then came /alg/ who really put Yostar on the map who then had to see a significant portion of their playerbase become shared with /akg/, and now both generals argue over who has the better art. Taking up the rear is /bag/'s cunny, coming in with a chip on their shoulder, stealing /akg/'s ritualposts, and then just sharing /alg/'s fate of arguing with /akg/ over who has the better art. /akg/ has only played /alg/ once officially.

China Will Grow Larger		 The game's developers have history. The populations of the generals have large overlap. The fanbases are two of the most dedicated in all of divegrass. One of the preeminent matchups in the /vg/ League, /akg/ and /gfg/ have only met once in /vg/ League 14 and managed to set a record, at the time, for highest concurrent viewership. /gig/ came in a massive wave in /vg/ League 16, but so far two of the largest generals on /vg/ have yet to face each other. But that eventual /akg/ and /gig/ matchup will be one of the most looked forward to games in the history of the /vg/ League. /akg/, /alg/, /gfg/, and /gig/ all combined to form Ccpg icon.png /ccpg/. /snowg/ would later replace /alg/ as part of the championship winning Ccpg icon.png /ccpg/.

Sanity Showdown		 What if we hold hands and we're both amnesiacs? Two of the most dedicated fanbases in the /vg/ League with the art to back it up, /lcg/ and /akg/ have been linked since /lcg/'s creation. It must have been fate for /lcg/ to end up in /akg/'s group in their debut cup, with /akg/ taking a thrilling 4-3 victory. Even before that game, and especially ever since, Limbabs continue to pop up in /akg/. With the generals as raucous as they are, further clashes are anticipated.

Curses

Over the course of /akg/'s history in the /vg/ League opponents have been faced both new and old. In the process of trying to reach the /vg/ League summit various curses have been encountered and either been taken on by /akg/, passed on to other generals, or broken entirely. This is just a short collection of /akg/'s curses so far, hopes are that it won't get much larger.

The /xcg/ Curse History

 Ever since Xcg icon.png /xcg/'s debut wooden spoon in /vg/ League 3, they had become a powerhouse team who were a constant presence on final days. However, following two successive second place finishes in /vg/ League 6 and /vg/ League 7, it took /xcg/ a death and revival into /vg/ League 15 before they were finally able to come out on top and died for one last time. The team they faced in that final was the still young general /akg/, just coming off a debut wooden spoon. In the loss, /xcg/ passed on a curse to /akg/, with /akg/ also losing in a second straight final in /vg/ League 16. The bright side of the curse is that it means the cursebearer will eventually win, which /akg/ did in much shorter fashion in /vg/ League 18 potentially passing the curse on to old-timers Feg icon.png /feg/.

The /egg/ Cycle History

 Reviving for /vg/ League 12, Egg icon.png /egg/ would storm out to a 7th place finish. As it turns out, this was just the start of their new /egg/ cycle. Group stage exits and quarterfinal finishes would be constantly swapped between, with /egg/ finishing the next three /vg/ Leagues in 40th, 7th, and 31st. Coming into /vg/ League 16, /egg/ was expected to continue this with another quarterfinal appearance, and a completely dominant performance in their group suggested this would happen again. They would end up drawing /akg/ in the Round of 16, but /akg/ wouldn't let a curse get in the way of another shot at a final. A back and forth match ended up in penalties, and BLOCK CERO became BLOCK CUATRO to send on /akg/ and break the cycle. Whether this was a good result for /egg/ can be debated, as /egg/ has yet to make it past the Survival Round since their cycle was broken.
