One of the oldest boards on 4chan, /w/ is a place to post anime related wallpapers, find anime related wallpapers, and edit anime related images for use in wallpapers. /w/ was first created in 2003 predating sister board /wg/ by over a year. Despite being one of the smaller boards /w/ has become a great community built around creating and sharing wallpapers.

The /w/ team hopes to see you on the board, because the thing an anon on /w/ loves most is something he hasn't seen before.

/w/ was founded on the thirteenth of July, 2014 and were inducted as part of the Sixth Founding.

/w/ entered the 4chan Cup first in the 2014 4chan Autumn Babby Cup. The team was at first not slated to compete in the cup until then commissioner tottori !!sRN5AxsnGLL was forced to step down due to personal reasons. This left the returning commissioner DrBorisG !!uWmnP2zIyZF to opt for a "Mega Babby" cup format, meaning that forty teams would be allowed to compete. Even then /w/ was still the third team in the waiting room behind /biz/ and /i/ in that order. They were moved to second in line after /fa/ were disqualified for managerial reasons. After /cm/'s manager failed to appear in order to sign them up and /gif/ failed to even have a manager /w/ was granted entry to the cup tied for the lowest seed. With nowhere to go but up /w/ looked at their first group stage with great optimism.

That optimism was quickly erased after an embarrassing 3-1 loss to /int/ that included an own goal by the /w/ keeper with the team's only goal being a 90+ minute goal from Powerlevel. Things kept looking grim for /w/ after they only managed a 1-1 draw against a /co/ team that had lost both of their previous matches 2-0. This left /w/ at 1 point on two games needing a miracle to avoid humiliation with the two toughest members of their group still ahead of them.

Things got off to a good start against rival /wg/ in the team's much anticipated Wallpaper Derby with an early goal from former /vg/ striker New Thread but FC Cunt Destroyer managed to get two goals back in the second half to force /w/ onto panic sliders with only ten minutes left in the match leaving /w/ to pray for a miracle. A miracle happened. In the 86th minute Powerlevel managed to get a ball from a corner kick into the back of the net, putting the teams even at two goals apiece. In stoppage time it was the substitute right back Yotsuba Sticky who got a cross over to the silver midfielder IMT who kicked the ball into the keeper for it to deflect up, bounce back behind the keeper, and go into the net giving /w/ its first win, a win against their rival, and keeping them alive going into the final weekend.

In a bittersweet match against their last opponent /e/, /w/ was denied promotion to the winter cup as the team's 1-0 victory left them below the other seven point teams in the group on goal differential. Despite not advancing the /w/ team held their heads high after a very shaky start they proved that /w/ would be a force to be reckoned with in spring and they will never give up, even when faced with the impossible they will still stand strong.

Or, they would then, at least. An awful showing in the 2015 4chan Spring Babby Cup saw /w/ getting destroyed 4-0 by group dominating /vr/; while many fans thought /w/ would improve a 2-0 loss to /g/ directly afterwards effectively killed /w/; while /w/ could still miraculously promote by fixing their abysmal goal difference in the matches following against /trv/ and /int/, inability to hold on to a 1-0 lead against /trv/ proved fatal as a 90+ goal by Sex Tourist meant the game was little more than dual suicide. The following match mattered for absolutely nothing, and despite a strong first half, /w/ lost again to /int/ by a score of 1-0 and finished their cup run on one point with only one goal scored. Overall /w/ placed 39th out of 40 in the Spring Babby.

The 2015 4chan Autumn Babby Cup provided more of the same; disappointment. An early 5-1 win over an awful /v/ had given the belief that /w/ could finally make the elites, but the hope was soon shattered when /k/ crashed PES and rigged it to give themselves a 2-1 comeback victory. /d/ put the nail in the coffin, by beating /w/ 2-0 and /v/ 5-3, and all /w/ could do was save /k/'s chances as they took two early goals from old friend /e/ on the final day.

However, /w/ turned a new leaf for the 2016 4chan Spring Babby Cup; a convincing 3-1 win over /a/ and /w/ finally getting the better of /int/ put /w/ in their first Elite Cup ever, despite a massive meme in an 8-3 loss to /trv/. A further win in the Round of 16 over /vp/ solidified /w/'s Pot 3 placement for Summer, but their hopes of winning Spring ended with a 4-2 loss to /r9k/ in the quarterfinals.

The 2016 4chan Summer Cup started out promisingly for /w/; a 1-1 draw against cup greats /mu/ and win over /e/ (again) put /w/ at the top of the group with a match left. Then Big Match John ruined it all with a 90+7' goal, and /w/ found themselves in the 2016 4chan Autumn Babby Cup, where they ran roughshod over /c/ and /trv/ to secure promotion in two games. At this point, /w/ stopped trying, getting a 1-0 win over /k/ to let the /c/ team they pulverized first thing go through with them and then dropping in the Round of 16 to eventual cup winner /jp/.

In the 2017 4chan Winter Cup, /w/ would make history by becoming only the third team in cup history to draw all of their group stage matches. Against /r9k/, who came off of a six month rest, /w/ conceded in 12 minutes, but benefitting from /r9k/ self-destructing without >tfw no gf, equalized at the 50th minute thanks to future silver minimalist and dominated the rest of the match. Against /vg/, who were back in the elites after spending a year and a half at the bottom, /w/ conceded first yet again, this time after an atrocious first half, before a massive push late saw another 77 (Current, who would not become a silver) score. Miss Monochrome, the silver who had spent most of the match choking, appeared to redeem herself with a stoppage-time winner for /w/, but it was ruled offside, and thus /w/ drew 1-1 again. The match against /m/ was similar, with /m/ scoring early thanks to Shin Getter Robo and /w/ struggling offensively until the 87th minute until ANOTHER 77 (Renders) scored an equalizer. It wasn't enough, and /w/ ended up relegated to the 2017 4chan Spring Babby Cup.

The first match of the cup, against /g/, reinforced /w/'s 1-1 drawscripts, with /w/ again conceding early and equalizing late. /w/ finally scored first against fellow relegated team /out/, but /out/'s infamous strike pair got them a 2-1 win and left /w/ in the dust. /g/ didn't do /w/ any favors, spotting /out/ two goals within 20 minutes before Install Gentoo pounded /out/'s defense and left /w/ to rot. The match that followed was an amazing affair; against bigger brother /a/ and with nothing but fetus avoidance in the future, /w/ roared out to a 3-0 lead in just 33 minutes and made it 4 at 60', but /a/ pulled off an incredible fightback that saw them score three wooden spoon-avoiding goals and nearly complete the comeback at the last minute. While /a/ lost, they left spoon-free and with a tiny bit of hope going into Autumn. Despite /a/'s comeback attempt, /w/ still left with a win in hand; this meant that the massive culling shitshow after Spring saw them initially indirectly promoted into the 2017 4chan Summer Cup (thanks to the death of >/t/ and their group stage foe /out/) before being relegated to the 2017 4chan Autumn Babby Cup for good.
