The 2016 4chan Summer Cup is the twentieth official 4chan Cup tournament and the sixth iteration of the Summer Cup series. It will be played on August 5–7, 12–14, and 20 and 21. The tournament features a mixture of teams that qualified from the 2016 4chan Spring Babby Cup and teams that managed to qualify for the knockout stage of the 2016 4chan Winter Cup.

This is the second competition led by commissioner Lear !!vH2UmJDmLxj and is being hosted by DrBorisG !!uWmnP2zIyZF. As the Winter champions, /fit/ have the honor of hosting this tournament, which also marks the Cup's 5th anniversary.

Competitors

Thirty-two teams will compete at this tournament: sixteen will qualify by means of advancing to the knockout stage of the 2016 4chan Winter Cup, while sixteen will qualify by means of advancing from the 2016 4chan Spring Babby Cup.

This Cup will see the Summer Cup debut of /out/ and /r9k/, as well as the Elite Cup debut of /biz/, /p/ and /w/.

Teams are placed in four different pots based on seeding. Seeding is determined by:

1. Finishing position of the top 16 teams from the 2016 4chan Winter Cup in that tournament
2. Finishing position of the top 16 teams from the 2016 4chan Spring Babby Cup in that tournament

All of the highest-seeded competitors (the top eight finishers from Winter) are placed in Pot 1, the next-highest in Pot 2, and so on until all four pots contain eight teams.
