{{Anonymous|.WEBMarshmallow}} wasted little time making waves through the organization, instituting a new five-man midfield that saw /wsg/ return it's focus to wide attacking. The team also looked to it's fresh-faced striker, TO BE CONTINUED, to take over central striking duties from long-time center-man Duane. The new look offense paid dividends almost immediately as /wsg/ took the Autumn Qualifiers by storm, blindsiding /a/ in a 2-0 shutout which saw MULTI-TRACK LISTENING's first ever goal and the debut of his upbeat yet hypnotic [https://puu.sh/v9Jyf/35643c8d87.mp3 goalhorn], ending the team's fourteen month drought of wins.
The subsequent matches finally gave /wsg/ a chance to settle the score against /fa/ and /ck/, both teams who've contributed to the continuation of /wsg/'s Round of 16 curse which hasn't been broken to this day. /fa/ would be
soundly defeated 3-2 even with manlet keeper Scott Sterling in the net and no live management whatsoever, this match would see the team's first ever career hat-trick from To Be Continued. The next day /ck/ would receive the same fate in another tight 3-2 match which saw Duane's first goal in nearly a year, off a penalty kick no less. Gondola a player on loan from /int/ for the season would also see his first time goal and Man of the Match award for the Wiseguys. /wsg/ became the first team to win all their matches in a qualifier tournament.

The team continued their high-octane attack in the Autumn Cup proper, putting on a show of late-game heroics in a 3-all draw against /trv/ that saw Duane and Company escape out the back door with a point thanks in part to the Captain's last minute goal. A drubbing to the tune of 5-1 against minnow /y/ managed to surprise only the colour commentary. However, intrigue started to percolate about their next match against /h/. With /h/ as safe as they were atop the group, would they hold back? The answer come game time was a resounding "no" as the pantsu posse compressed the attacking zone often in the first half. The pressure would not last, however, and /wsg/ would strike back multiple times, dragging the scoreline to /wsg/ 3-2 /h/ at the half. /h/'s aggressiveness would prove costly, as a red card forced them to ten players for almost the entire later half of the game. From there, /wsg/ made use of the open field and struck two more for their side. The slugfest would eventually end 5-4. /wsg/ would advance, top of their group.
/wsg/ who hadn't seen a knockout match since the [[2016 4chan Winter Cup|Winter '16]] match against /out/, once again had another opportunity to break it's Round of 16 curse and win a knockout match for the first time, but alas it was not to be as the team was drawn against /x/, the team who had humiliated the Wiseguys only a year earlier in a 5-2 blowout. Though not as bad as last time, /wsg/ would hold their own against the spooks 2-all into extra-time but ultimately lose 3-2 and finish 11th in the tournament.

One wonders if the introduction of webms to 4chan was beneficial to /wsg/ or not, on one hand it expanded the focus of the board, on the other it brought a lot of unwanted crossover with YouTube. Nevertheless, what was once a team that only consisted of a collection of random gifs, has now blossomed into team of widely varying interests that can all coexist together thanks to being one of only two boards in which you can post webms with sound and the only one where porn won't drown everything else out.

From our humble beginnings as a collection of reaction gifs, to our first taste of competition at the highest level, to subtle rigging by a foreign actor, to our revival from the brink of the abyss, to our quick return to form, to our steady decline into mediocrity and abject failure, to our rebound by dishonest means, to a fresh start under more qualified management, to overcoming all odds in the pursuit of milestones that many teams have accomplished far quicker than us. For a long time, /gif/ was the board to go to for any and all gifposting. As the board grew older, civil unrest rose up between those looking for sensible chuckles and the lurkers looking to bust a nut. Moot took action and created /wsg/ in order to keep both sides of the dispute happy. That doesn't stop the two brother boards from hashing out their mutual frustrations with each other on the pitch, though.

The only official meeting between these two teams was a 2-3 loss for /wsg/ in the Autumn '13 Friendlies where /wsg/'s recorded history in the cup began. For various reasons since 2013 the two teams haven't managed to play each other at any point due to factors that range from differing skill levels to straight up not competing for several years in /gif/'s case.

The Blazin' All Tens Yolobowl

Another board that's all about the animated imagery, /f/ and /wsg/ share an acquaintanceship that's best described as "neighbourly." Games between the two are less about winning and losing and more about setting tactics to all-tens and watching the pitch be set ablaze by what may happen.Some teams just want to watch the football world burn.

Friendly is an accurate term for this rivalry, seeing as both meetings between the two were held across the Winter and Summer Friendlies of 2014, the former ending in a fun 4-2 win for /wsg/ and the latter in a tense 1-1 nail-biter. Bygone are the days of PES2014 and it's legendary Yolobowl matches, when these teams ever meet again it will likely be in a more competitive setting.

The Gentleman's Agreement

Originally just a meme rivalry born from the use of the Wiseguy moniker, a sole match in the Summer '14 Friendlies decided the fate of the nickname and bestowed it upon the WG team with an S in the middle. Despite the promising sign of a budding rivalry, such a rematch of the two teams would not occur for another six years and both sides would never attempt to put their name on the line again.

Many years would pass until a renaissance was ushered in by the great rigging forces of RNGesus. In Spring '20, /wsg/ stomped the competition and would barrel their way through the knockouts to the Semi-Finals where they would meet none other than their forgotten rivals, The Da/wg/s as they were now referred to as. Far exceeding everyone's expectations both teams would enter into a gentleman's agreement, which resulted in a glorious 7-5 slugfest and go down in history as The Greatest Third-Place-Match-Overshadowing Semi-Final Ever :^).

The Rat Race Rumble

What would, on paper, seem to be two boards with no connection comes a competitive rivalry that stems all the way back to the PES14 era. Wily veterans /trv/ are never one to back down from a fight. When /wsg/ came knocking during the Winter '14 Friendlies, they would heed the call to arms and walk away with an tight 1-0 victory. Later that Summer /wsg/ would hold the Winter champions to a close 2-1 victory, sending them on a downward spiral to mediocrity, the two teams would not meet again for another two years.

In Summer '16, goalkeeper Get Out with his 7 saves and MotM award would carry the team to a scrappy 1-0 victory. The rivalry though storied only becomes interesting a year later in Autumn '17 where star strikers Duane and To Be Continued worked together to turn a hopeless 3-1 loss into a cheeky 3-3 draw in the dying minutes of the match. /trv/ would finally slay their white whale /wsg/ 1-5 two years later in Autumn '19.
