2018 4chan Spring Babby Cup Qualifiers

The 2018 4chan Winter Cup was the twenty-sixth official 4chan Cup tournament and the seventh iteration of the Winter Cup series. The group stage began February 16, 2018 and concluded February 25, 2018, with the knockout stage the following weekend, March 3 and 4, 2018. Teams which advanced to the knockout stage of the 2017 4chan Summer Cup and those which secured promotion from the 2017 4chan Autumn Babby Cup competed at the event.

/lgbt/ hosted this tournament by virtue of their victory in the 2017 4chan Summer Cup. After the first Elite Cup final to go to penalty kicks, /u/ triumphed over /mlp/ to achieve their first tournament victory.

Competitors

Thirty-two teams competed at this tournament. Sixteen of the teams qualified by advancing to the knockout stage of the 2017 4chan Summer Cup and sixteen qualified by promoting from the 2017 4chan Autumn Babby Cup.

This was the debut Winter Cup for /his/.

Draw

The group stage draw was held on February 10, 2018. The hat prediction to win the cup was Lit icon.png /lit/.

Teams were placed in four different pots based on seeding. Seeding was determined by:

  1. The finishing position of the top 16 teams from the 2017 4chan Summer Cup in that tournament.
  2. The finishing position of the top 16 teams from the 2017 4chan Autumn Babby Cup in that tournament.

All of the highest-seeded competitors (the top eight finishers from Summer) were placed in Pot 1; the next-highest in Pot 2, and so on until all four pots contained eight teams.
