Since the 2013 4chan Autumn Babby Cup, the /vg/ League has been the way /vg/ has determined its roster for cups. Initially, only medal players were decided with this method, with other players being chosen by way of contacting the board's fastest generals. However, the /vg/ League now determines the entire /vg/ roster, with a meta player being a permanent gold (currently Git Gud), while the gold and both silvers are determined by the top three teams in the League. The Rivalry
 /v/ - Vidya Derby |
Since /vg/ is /v/'s little brother, some sibling rivalry is bound to ensue. Everything BUT Videogames vs. Everything BUT Videogames (in general form!), who will come out on top?
To date the all time record has /v/ winning 2 out of 4 official matches, with both of their wins coming in friendlies. However, /vg/'s lone win in the series came during an elite cup and served to relegate /v/. An unofficial friendly match was played between the two before the 2015 4chan Winter Cup, with /v/ winning 1–0, and both teams have met three times in each of the two Vidya Bowls. The fourth official Vidya Derby came in the 2017 4chan Summer Cup group stage, three years to the last. /v/ got another early lead, but unfortunately /vg/ could not turn the same magic they did long ago and only got an equalizer, which ended up being the difference between relegation and advancement. Of course, both teams went and completely shat the bed following their relegation. |

Team History
The /vg/ League 17 took place to decide /vg/'s roster heading into 2022. /hgg2d/ repeated as champions, defeating a different Yostar team in the final as /fgoalter/ took third place.
/vg/ were drawn into Group D with Golden Goal-conceding /adv/, heavy underdogs /tg/, and some assholes who we've already played three times. Safe to say, it did not go very well. /vg/'s first match was against /tg/, a team generally not well thought of before the cup. Playing at a minor disadvantage due to managerial fuckups, /vg/ didn't take long to start on the wrong foot. By halftime, they were two down thanks to Doomrider and Mork goals. Git Gud tried to save the match, but all he could do was score once at the 73rd minute. A 1–2 loss to the group's underdog was a less than optimal way to start the group. It didn't get much better against the white whale. Cunt Destroyer, having come back into form after two years, scored before 20 minutes had passed. Git Gud quickly answered at the 21st minute, proving that /vg/ could at least score goals against /wg/ this time. Nyagger even gave /vg/ a lead thirteen minutes later, something they had never achieved in any of the previous three meetings. The lead lasted all of five minutes, Cunt Destroyer completed a hat trick in the second half, and /vg/ lost 2–3. They were still alive despite these two losses, as /adv/ went on to beat /tg/ 4–1. In order to advance, all /vg/ needed to do was win by three and watch /wg/ roll through /tg/ too. Foolproof plan, right? Well, /adv/ scored first. 21 minutes in. Not good. Then they parked the bus. /vg/ took fourteen shots and somehow failed to score any of them, tying an all-time record as /vg/ saw a match stolen from them in front of their own eyes. A very painful 0–1 loss killed the dream before it even began.
/tg/ won the next match 4–0 anyway, so that shit didn't even matter. The next day, /vg/ were immediately confirmed to finish at the very bottom of the rankings. /vg/'s streak of Elite Cups without relegation ended at seven, they carried home their first Wooden Spoon since the dark ages, and anything that could have possibly went wrong ended up going wrong. For the first time in four years, /vg/ will be in a Babby Cup. Hopefully, it will only be a speed bump.
