League
Since the 2013 4chan Autumn Babby Cup, the /vg/ League has been the way /vg/ has determined its roster for cups. Initially, only medal players were decided with this method, with other players being chosen by way of contacting the board's fastest generals. However, the /vg/ League now determines the entire /vg/ roster, with a meta player being a permanent gold (currently Git Gud), while the gold and both silvers are determined by the top three teams in the League. So far, fifteen incarnations of the /vg/ League have been completed.

To date the all time record has /v/ winning 2 out of 4 official matches, with both of their wins coming in friendlies. The fourth official Vidya Bowl came in the 2017 4chan Summer Cup group stage, three years to the last. /v/ got another early lead, but unfortunately /vg/ could not turn same magic they did long ago and only got an equalizer, which ended up being the difference between relegation and advancement. Of course, both teams went and completely shat the bed following their relegation.<br>Since the last Vidya Derby, one of us has been C H A M P, and it wasn't the big brother. Regardless, any future meetings WILL be fun. Actually, wait, no, the last one wasn't.

* 2021 4chan Winter Cup
* 2022 4chan Autumn Babby Cup
With /xcg/ having finally won a title, Snaketits was the new leader of the /vg/ attack, along with /akg/'s SAN-check-failing doctor. The rigging ten-gallon figured now would be as good a time as any to put /vg/ in a group with three separate rematches, two of them from the previous cup, and considering how much of a meme the rest of the group was, it was only fitting that /vg/'s tactics also took inspiration from the /vg/ League. /vg/ were, as ever, generally tipped to easily advance, and so it was with those expectations that /vg/ went into their first match, against /an/, who had only recently dug out of one of the worst two-year runs in the Cup's history. /vg/ had more than enough chances to win the match, but multiple horrific defensive errors meant that by the time they actually finished one, at the 87th minute (hi, still-a-medal Bigley!), /an/ were already up by two. /an/ ended the match with Brown Recluse scoring in stoppage time, and one 1&ndash;3 loss later, things were perhaps undeservedly looking bad for /vg/. Fortunately, the rest of their group was just as much of a fucking meme as they are. /diy/ came up next, in a significantly less blue match than the previous one. They wasted no time scoring early, with <s>Purest Form of Love</s> a fucking crab giving them the lead by the eighth minute. Twelve minutes later, Snaketits made it equal, and after a wave of /diy/ attacks led to many shots and relatively little actual threat, the doctor and Snaketits helped /vg/ run away with it to the tune of 3&ndash;1. Just like that, /vg/ were back in the group, one that every team had three points in by the end of its second round. All /vg/ needed to do now was draw /f/ and they would stay elite. Instead of playing for a draw, /vg/ came out utterly dominant, all but ending the match by halftime thanks to a ninth-minute Snaketits goal and Git Gud ceasing to be a bitch long enough to score twice. /f/ got one back just before the 60th minute, which turned out to be their sole shot. /vg/ won 3&ndash;1, again, and extended the longest stay in the Elites without a relegation to a full 6(six) cups in a row. They had gotten out of the dumbest group alive despite starting by losing to its worst team. It was pretty good.
Before Autumn began, /vg/ benefited from teams dying for the second time in six years. This time, it was /out/ failing to sign up, moving them into Pot 2 and (at least theoretically) increasing the odds of an easier group draw. Ultimately, the draw came in and /vg/ were set in 2022 4chan Autumn Babby Cup Group H. On the schedule were /an/ coming down from the previous Elite, /wsg/ staying in Babby purgatory, and /mu/ from an ass-clenching Fetus promotion. Naturally, expectations were very high for a team with many personnel from possibly the greatest /vg/ run ever. So why not start it off with a banger against /mu/? MC Ride scored first for them, newly-minted silver Basement Bubba replied ten minutes later, and after /mu/ took the lead thanks to John Lennon beating his wife before the break, three goals in ten minutes (Sisterfucker and ZERO SANITY for /vg/, John Lennon again for /mu/) set the stage for Git Gud to win it 4&ndash;3 at the very end. The next match, against /an/, saw /vg/ stay on cruise control, with three goals in the first half, one a piece for each of /vg/'s forwards, and a second half of prevent defense with Ephraim making sure it wouldn't actually prevent winning. A 4&ndash;2 victory and a draw by /mu/ guaranteed /vg/ advancement early, but that wasn't to be any excuse for not showing up against /wsg/. Like their first match, /vg/ traded blows with /wsg/ (ZERO SANITY an Git Gud for /vg/, Gondola twice for /wsg/) and ultimately won at the very end (Basement Bubba). /vg/'s 3&ndash;2 win gave them nine points, more goals than any other team in the group stage, and a lot of backing for the high expectations heading into the knockout stage.

Once /vg/ arrived to the knockout stage, their first opponent was none other than... /t/. Yeah, those bastards. They'd come back from the dead and even temporarily avoided being embarrassingly bad at divegrass, winning two matches in a row to secure a surprise advancement from their group. They even took the fight to /vg/, scoring the first goal at the tenth minute. Forty more minutes went by with nothing from /vg/, until Git Gud came in clutch at the 52nd. Not much action followed, ending the match at 1&ndash;1 and setting up a penalty shootout that easily could have ended a promising run before it really began. Neither of the two actual goalscorers made their penalty shots, but luckily for /vg/, neither could most of /t/'s other medals. /vg/ through to the quarterfinals, /x/ await. What followed was one of the most insane matches of simulated divegrass ever played. /x/ scored the very first goal within three minutes. The next goal was an own goal, a horrific mistake on a header by an /x/ defender to get /vg/ to the half tied at one. ZERO SANITY gave /vg/ the lead not long after the break, only for /x/ to get even not long after, only for Sisterfucker to then put /vg/ back up six minutes after. /x/ scored ANOTHER equalizer before the 80th minute, then seemingly put it away with their own stoppage time winner. Except, they gave /vg/ too much time. A perfect longball on the last kickoff of the match left Sisterfucker with nothing to do but send it to extra time, leaving anyone watching in total disbelief. Ephraim traded goals with a literal fucking skeleton in the first half of extra time and ZERO SANITY scored late in the second half of extra time to finally put a 6&ndash;5 win to bed. The semifinal matchup against /tg/ was a cakewalk by comparison. Git Gud scored twice in the first half, Sisterfucker scored once in the first half, /tg/ made their stats look nice with two goals in the final ten minutes. 3&ndash;2 victory for /vg/ and their first final appearance since Summer 2018.

/vg/'s opponent in the final was none other than one of their brothers, /vr/. They, along with /vg/ and all the other vidya boards playing in Autumn, had promoted from their group as if blessed by /v/'s championship. /vr/ now had a chance to finish off an undefeated run of their own, one that would have represented a major success after nine whole years of nearly nothing but constant pain. And by the end of the first half of the final, all /vr/ could think about was how much they wanted to go home. Kanami managed to score a goal against them, somehow! ZERO SANITY scored the second of a half in which /vr/ never even took a shot, Git Gud dropped the final insult, and /vg/'s second final was just as anti-climatic as its first. A resounding 3&ndash;0 victory, concluding a perfect cup-winning run. /vg/ finished the run having scored the most goals in the tournament, stopped from Golden Boot contention by their own relentless spreading of the wealth. ZERO SANITY was part of a five-way tie for top assister. /vg/ even had a goalkeeper at the end. It all felt almost too easy. Now /vg/ are in Winter, hoping to be like the legendary /lgbt/ of many years prior and successfully go for the double. And maybe even beat /v/ along the way.

/vg/'s reward for getting out of their meme of a group was, of course, to play in the Round of 16. Thankfully, they didn't get another fucking rematch, but the actual opponent might have been worse than a rematch. It was /cm/, a fellow Elite Cup winner that had made the final day of each of the past four cups they had played in despite being managed by . Faced with an insanely tough Round of 16 matchup, /vg/'s plan to stop /cm/ from making it five in a row was to sit back and try to defend as much as possible. It might have worked, if not for one major flaw: The attack that had powered /vg/ through the group stage was completely, utterly gimped. /vg/ had most of the possession, but /cm/ were fully in control of the match, and when /vg/ tried to push forward, their reward was not any more offensive power, but instead a not-very-nice goal conceded to a /cm/ non-medal at the 69th minute. One 0&ndash;1 loss later and for the third time in four cups, /vg/ were eliminated in the Round of 16. They couldn't even go undefeated like the defending champions, although those girls also got relegated while /vg/ didn't. /vg/ were significantly better than their previous Elite Cup, which was good, and they also won a post-cup award for best chant, but auties can only go so far. A MEGA CUP looms, with /vg/ being among the literally every single one of the teams participating. Theoretically, a team that decides their roster by hosting one of the largest invitationals around should have some advantage.
* Pre-2023 4chan Winter Cup
The League 19 happened. /twg/ won it. /akg/ didn't win it, but came in second. /gig/ and /pmmm/ played a third place match that /gig/ won. Both of those two teams get silver spots on a five-medal team.

After the cup, one of the /vg/ managers retired after three and a half years with the team, soon replaced by some other guy from the VGL just in time for the MEGA CUP and after it, the 2022 4chan Winter Cup.
* 2023 4chan Winter Cup
We were the first team eliminated lol (but at least we weren't the worst)

* Pre-2021 4chan World Cup
* Pre-2023 4chan Spring Babby Cup
/vg/ played only one match in the biggest friendlies ever, against /jp/. They lost 1&ndash;2 and didn't score until the very end of the match. Fortunately, the friendly was right in the middle of the League 16, which helped keep eyes off of more terrible friendlies performance. The /vg/ League was won by /hgg2d/, who defeated /akg/ (again) in the final. /gbpen/ allegedly got third place.
We played a couple friendlies, one of them was a 4-0 loss to /v/ that wasn't pretty

* 2021 4chan World Cup
* 2023 4chan Spring Babby Cup
For the largest cup event ever held, /vg/ were thrown into a draw completely free of pots; none of their past three years of success, or anyone else's, mattered. This led to some interesting draws, and /vg/'s was no different. Drawn into Group K with defending Elite Champion /n/, two-time champion /mlp/ looking to rebound from a lost year, and recent Babby finalist /wsg/, /vg/ were widely seen as having one of the toughest draws of the entire competition. An Alice, Doctor, and Aya-led attack carried high expectations nonetheless, and got its first test against the defending Elite Champions. After a completely event-free first half, the first goal was scored by the legendary Skyking, who plays for the wrong team. Smug Redman, back as a non-medal midfielder, equalized quickly after. A match largely dominated by /n/ saw them finally get a reward for their dominance at the 84th minute, thanks again to Skyking, and /vg/ lost their first match of the World Cup 1&ndash;2. Undeterred, /vg/ set off to rebound against /mlp/, who had failed to beat /wsg/ in their first match despite near-complete dominance. Unfortunately, things did not go according to plan. Again, /vg/'s opponent scored first, this time Best Pony, and again /vg/ equalized quickly as Alice scored her first goal as a gold. Instead of one goal sinking /vg/ this time, it was three; even worse, all of them were scored in a 20-minute stretch before the first half even ended. With any hopes of a comeback all but totally sunk, /mlp/ coasted along and far-too-late tactical changes by /vg/ allowed them to pad out their goal difference with another, very late goal from Alice to close out a 2&ndash;4 loss. A slightly more respectable goal difference didn't change the reality of the situation, however; after just two matches, /vg/ were eliminated early. For the first time since the 2017 4chan Autumn Babby Cup, they would not play any further than their last group stage match, and for the first time since the 2015 4chan Spring Babby Cup their fate had been decided before their group stage ended. Worse still, before the final match, news had come that /tnm/, one of the generals represented on the /vg/ roster, would see their game shut down and as a result would be unable to survive to the next /vg/ League. For the final match, against /wsg/, /tnm/ representative Licky Licky and several other players who had seen zero match time were given that time in a match that ultimately meant nothing. /mlp/ had defeated /n/, securing advancement and top of the group for themselves, and with /wsg/ lacking a manager a meme match was not on the cards. For almost the entire match, very little happened, with /vg/ only slightly better than /wsg/. Until, of course, /vg/ won a penalty! Finally, a goal might happen! And how much of a feat it would be to see a goalkeeper score a goal, for only the in the history of the cup! Well, it didn't go that way. The CEO of GEO's penalty was saved, and the only goal of the match came in much more conventional fashion; Alice, the leading forward, scoring at the 80th minute. /vg/ won 1&ndash;0, securing third place in their group in the most boring way possible. The team's worst run in three and a half years was finally over. This is not to say there were no bright spots; /gbpen/'s Pink Fluffy Leader assisted every single goal /vg/ scored in the tournament, making her immediately one of the top assisters ever to play for the team and surpassing next-best goalless assister Mike Schmidt. And since the World Cup affects absolutely none of the traditional cup cycle, /vg/'s next cup will remain the 2022 4chan Winter Cup. As is true after a normal Elite Cup, the teams already playing in Winter will get a full six months to prepare for the next challenge.

Ever since breaking off from older brother /v/, /vg/ has dutifully carried on the time-honored pledge of all boards that are vidya: talking about everything except vidya. If you're /vg/, that means gachashit, weebshit, and gay fucking shit. Sometimes all three at once.

The football team is proudly no different.

A veteran of the 4chan Cup, with a history as bumpy and dubious as the board it represents, sometimes >we're good, and good enough to win a Cup. How that happens is anyone's guess. Most of the time >we're as bad as the board >we claim to represent, because everyone's been shitposting and bickering long enough that they've forgotten we're here to play football.

Welcome to /vg/ F.C., the team representing the board of /vg/ - Video Game Generals. Enjoy your stay, and remember to git gud.

/vg/ League

Since the 2013 4chan Autumn Babby Cup, the /vg/ League has been the way /vg/ has determined its roster for cups. Initially, only medal players were decided with this method, with other players being chosen by way of contacting the board's fastest generals. However, the /vg/ League now determines the entire /vg/ roster, with a meta player being a permanent gold (currently Git Gud), while the gold and both silvers are determined by the top three teams in the League. For a full list of /vg/ Leagues and champions, go here.

The Rivalry

V logo.png
/v/ - Vidya Derby
Since /vg/ is /v/'s little brother, some sibling rivalry is bound to ensue. Everything BUT Videogames vs. Everything BUT Videogames (in general form!), who will come out on top?

To date the all time record has /v/ winning 2 out of 5 official matches, with both of their wins coming in friendlies. However, /vg/'s lone win in the series came during an elite cup and served to relegate /v/. Most recently, in the 2020 4chan Winter Cup, /vg/ and /v/ played out a terrible 0–0 draw that nearly sent both teams to the Babby. Ultimately, /vg/ advanced and made the final.
Since the last Vidya Derby, /v/ finally won an Elite Cup, meaning both teams have been the undisputed Elite Champion at some point in time and also /vg/ won a babby. Now more than ever, any future meetings WILL be >fun. We can only hope.

Team History

Previous history here

MC Ride scored first for them, newly-minted silver Basement Bubba replied ten minutes later, and after /mu/ took the lead thanks to John Lennon beating his wife before the break, three goals in ten minutes (Sisterfucker and ZERO SANITY for /vg/, John Lennon again for /mu/) set the stage for Git Gud to win it 4–3 at the very end. The next match, against /an/, saw /vg/ stay on cruise control, with three goals in the first half, one a piece for each of /vg/'s forwards, and a second half of prevent defense with Ephraim making sure it wouldn't actually prevent winning. A 4–2 victory and a draw by /mu/ guaranteed /vg/ advancement early, but that wasn't to be any excuse for not showing up against /wsg/. Like their first match, /vg/ traded blows with /wsg/ (ZERO SANITY an Git Gud for /vg/, Gondola twice for /wsg/) and ultimately won at the very end (Basement Bubba). /vg/'s 3–2 win gave them nine points, more goals than any other team in the group stage, and a lot of backing for the high expectations heading into the knockout stage.

Not much action followed, ending the match at 1–1 and setting up a penalty shootout that easily could have ended a promising run before it really began. Ephraim traded goals with a literal fucking skeleton in the first half of extra time and ZERO SANITY scored late in the second half of extra time to finally put a 6–5 win to bed. The semifinal matchup against /tg/ was a cakewalk by comparison. Git Gud scored twice in the first half, Sisterfucker scored once in the first half, /tg/ made their stats look nice with two goals in the final ten minutes. 3–2 victory for /vg/ and their first final appearance since Summer 2018.

A resounding 3–0 victory, concluding a perfect cup-winning run.

The /vg/ League 19 happened. /twg/ won it. /akg/ didn't win it, but came in second. /gig/ and /pmmm/ played a third place match that /gig/ won. Both of those two teams get silver spots on a five-medal team.

We were the first team eliminated lol (but at least we weren't the worst)

We played a couple friendlies, one of them was a 4-0 loss to /v/ that wasn't pretty

We got jobbed in another Spring Babby Cup fire these script writers immediately
