The World Series is an invitational created by MauledByTheTigers !!jawkONBJmdi and featured boards with globe-spanning interests. The competition was held on January 26, 2013 at GermanBro's twitch. Unlike Major League Baseball's "World Series", this invitational was a truly international affair. Players and playstyles from every corner of the earth met for the planet's true common language: football.
Format
The tournament assumed the format of a round-robin group stage with each team playing every other once. A seeded knockout round to be based on finishing position in the group stage then followed, with a 3rd place play-off for the losing semi-finalists. Teams were set to random conditioning, and were also managed live. Games were 20 minutes long, split into two 10-minute halves. Games in the group stage ended at 90 minutes, whilst games in the knockout rounds would go to extra time and penalties if these are required to separate the teams. As four teams are not enough for Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 to run it as a tournament, each game was held individually, and as such no fatigue was accumulated throughout the tournament.
